Meaning of Sarovara
Sanskrit for lake, or any body of water deep enough for lotuses to grow in. Manasarovara is the name of the sacred lake near Mount Kailash in western Tibet, Kailash is sacred to Hindu;s as it is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Pilgrimages to Kailash and Manasarovara are mae by Hindus and Buddhists, Manas = mind or consciousness, thus Manasarovara = Lake of Consciousness.

As far as I know, Sarovar means pond. Lake is a different water body and I wonder if in Sanskrit there is a different word for it. Kailash too is correctly spelled as Kailas.
