Re: Mourning
I don't know of any other Mournings' personally but in my search of relatives on genealogy sites I have seen the name Mourning, mostly given names of females born between 1800 and 1930. Some of them have alternate versions of the name such as Morning.___________________________________________________________

I have three ancestors named Mourning that lived in North Carolina. Their birth years range from 1707-1720. I counted 40 Mournings in a genealogy book I own. The book looked at census records of Wilson NC in 1860. I believe that Mourning is a Puritan virtue name similar to the names Remember and Remembrance. There are other Puritan names in the book such as Temperance (very popular), Obedience (also popular), and a few named Unity, Purity, Piety, Charity, Chastity, Patience, Faith, and Prudence. Biblical names make up most of the other female names - both common and more obscure names. I haven't been able to find any source that lists Mourning as a Puritan name but I'm still looking.
