My name
I have inherited a name that has been used in my family for around two centuries .... "ZIBIAH" .... However nobody in my family knows much about it origins.... I wondered if any of you would know?????I can tell you a tiny bit about it.... My family are Jewish in origin (although I am a catholic thanks to my irish mother) and I assume that Zibiah is Jewish name.... though it seems hard to track down... I have found the name mentioned in the book of Kings in the (Old) Testament as being the Mother of a king of early Israel/Judea... otherwise I have found no mention of it other than in my family records..... can anyone help me???? Any info would be gladly welcomed......

Queen ZibiahQueen Zibiah of Beer-Sheba (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jamesdow/s021/f652787.htm) is the wife of King Ahaziah and the mother of Joash king of Judah. I think it means "the Lord dwells" or "deer" in Hebrew.

Why thank you ever so much for finding that....... It is a wierd name I have to admit.... one held by several of my anscestors who were jewish (though I myself am not....)Now on to Pronounsiation..... I hear so many zib - ee - ah and zib-iy-ah another.... what does evryone think.... I use the latter...(By the way.... on the random chance that any descendants of Betty Lou Flavelle and Carl Weidman ever come on this site... you got it wrong on Rootsweb.... its is not Zebahiah but Zibiah........)

No problem, it wasn't difficult, since she's my ancestress. :-)
