I have long wondered the meaning of my name. It is a family name, and my grandmother told me that her father had gotten the name from an elderly woman who he knew from his dental business. I have been told that it is a Norweigen goddess' name. My family is Scandinavian in descent. My grandfather, who is a docter, had treated a woman from Norway and she said that she had known girls named Lera. If any onw has any additional information on my name, I would appreciate a reply. hey i'm valerie but my friends call me Lera it is a girls' name it is spanish it refers to virgin mary and the origin is Russia that's where i was born lol

Hi Lera,
My name is Lera too. I've been on google looking for the meaning my name but it's silly really for me, because my parents took the two letters of their first names Le and Ra and made up my name. I'm not Norwegian or anything near European, I am African (from the historically known German East Africa) but then again, i'd like to know what Lera means for in my language (Swahili) it means nothing really. If you find out, please let me know.
Oh and do you know the Russian pianist Lera Auerbach? Stay well.

lera is a reference to the virgin mary and its origin is spanish.
