Quick surname question
Just a technical question for a story. If an unmarried Russian woman emigrated to America and kept her last name when she married, and her children took her last name, would her male descendants use the feminine form? Just because people don't do the male/female surname thing in America. We're all in the gutter, but some of us look at the stars.

I don't believe so, although I'm not sure. The same male/female problem exists in Greece too, but as evidences show, greek women out of Greece -especially in the U.S.- use the masculine form of their last name -see the actress Nia Vandalos; in Greece it would be Vandalou.
