HEZRIA

I would like to know the origin of the name HEZRIA which was my gggrandfather's name. He was born in 1834 in Finchingfield Essex England and signed his marriage certificate "HEZRIA". Various records relating to him mispell his name in a multitude of ways.Thank you

It could be a mispelling of Azariah or Ezra.

There is a biblical name Hezrai (see http://bibleencyclopedia.com/hezrai.htm). This looks very close. Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Biblical_names_starting_with_H
