I actually have an ancestor from Germany who was female and named Abel. Sorry I don't know any female forms but maybe Abel use to be acceptable as a female name as well as a male name. Or maybe my ancestors were unusual people.

I know I am coming in late on this but you could always use a name with the same meaning. Abel means breath, so do Eve, Spirit, Psyche. All of these are feminine names.
