There are some Jewish names on my favorite list, too, but Zippora makes me think of a zipper and Shlomo sounds like "slimy" or "slow motion" to me. Sorry!

TanaquilTanaquil was the wife of Tarquinius Priscus, fifth king of Rome. She was of Etruscan origin.
I found the name on a painting and thought it was beautiful. When I read about Tanaquil LeClercq and her sad fate, I started to like it even more.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanaquil_LeClercq

I know we've discussed before how vastly different our naming styles are, but here is what I do like/love* from your first list:
Ellen
James*
Michael
Opal -Okay, I actually don't like this, but it's so similiar to Mabel that I wonder how you can like it but call Mabel a "servant name. Or old, obese chain-smoking gum-snapping greasy-spoon waitress." Surely that image is brought to mind with Opal as well then.
Phillip -Sometimes I like Phillip and sometimes I don't and I don't know why, but today it's okay. Not excited about it, but it's okay.
Robin
William

Opal and Mabel?I don't see how they're similar. I mean, they end in the same ul sound but that's all I can see.Anyway, Opal didn't get a silly jump-rope rhyme like Mabel, Mabel, set the table. And Opal doesn't show up as the stereotypical frozy old lady name like Mabel does.

It does to me, but to each their own..-and though they say it's possible to me, i don't see how it's probable-

ZuleikaÖnska & ÖnskeHow do you pronounce Yue? And what info do we have on that name? I've never seen it before.
vote up1
Yue is YOO-e - it's Chinese and I got it from the manga/anime CardCaptor Sakura. Means "moon", though it seems it can have several other meanings as well.Fenix is Swedish for phoenix. I hadn't associated it with fennecs before, probably because they're more often called "desert foxes" in Swedish. :)Önska and Önske are based off the Swedish word for "wish" btw. I basically made them up just to have something for the letter Ö. :P
vote up1
That's fantastic! I love Önska and Önske! And oddly enough, I collect "moon" names. This is grand. Thanks!
