How do you pronounce

KaiaPlease read after you've written down your pronunciations:-

Do you think pronouncing Eunice as yoo-NEES would work? It's the way I've always pronounced it but now I hear it is often said YOO-nis, which I don't like nearly as much.

MAD-uh-lin (but MAD-uh-line works too)YOO-nissKYE-uhKYE-uhI've never heard yoo-NEES. Her name would get mispronounced a lot because YOO-niss is the standard pronunciation.

Madeline - MAD-uh-lin
Eunice - I've always pronounced this yoo-NEES.
Kaya - KIE-uh
Kaia - (same as above)

Mad(e)lin with a slight schwa in the middle.
yoo-NEE-see
KIEa
KAYaEunice could be YOO-ne-see I suppose. But yoo-NEES doesn't work for me - sounds as if you're rudely calling your nephew's sister. The yoo-NEE-see version is the name of a well-known girls' high school in South Africa with a good academic and sporting record;it's clearly been pronounced that way for a good many years.

Madeline -I say this both as MAD-eh-LINE and MAD-eh-LYN.
Eunice -YOO-niss.
Kaya -KYE-ah or KAY-ah. I'd probably ask the person.
Kaia -KYE-ahI think people would have a hard time with yoo-NEES. Maybe spell it differently? Not sure how though.

Madeline-Mad-a lyn.Eunice-Yoo-niss.Kaya-Kay-ah.Kaia-Ky-ah.I doubt your preferred pronounciation would work in an English-speaking area. Though I think Yoo-NEES would be what my French-speaking neighbours would make of it. edited for scrambled sentence.

Madeline: MAD-uh-line
Eunice- YOO-niss
Kaya- KAY-ah (rhymes with "pie-uh.")
Kaia- same as KayaEunice as yoo-NEES doesn't work for me, but perhaps it's because I know the name and I'm used to the original pronunciation. But it's not such a big change as to not make sense at all.

YOO-nis
KYE-a
KYE-aEunice as yoo-NEES sounds not only incorrect to my ears, but also trashy and downmarket. I'm fairly sure it would absolutely get pronounced as YOO-nis.

KIE-ahNo. I really don't think Eunice said yoo-NEES would work.

Madeline -- MAD-ə-lien. I think that the spelling Madelyn is MAD-ə-lin not MAD-ə-lien and the spelling you have here is most definitely MAD-ə-lien to me.
Eunice -- you-NEES
Kaya -- kay-uh
Kaia -- kai-uh I think pronouncing Eunice that way works, as it is the way that I would automatically pronounce it.

Madeline: MAD-uh-lin (my first choice) or MAD-uh-lien (what I'd actually expect)
Eunice: YOU-nis
Kaya & Kaia: KIE-uhAlthough Eunice (YOU-nis) is not a common name, it is a reasonably familiar one. I think you-NEES would come off as an affectation and would be a pain in the butt to enforce.

Madeline - mad-ah-line
Eunice - YOO-nis
Kaya - KY-ah
Kaia - KY-ahI guess yoo-NEES could work...but I still don't like it.

Madeline - MAD-e-line, but I like MAD-e-lin better
Eunice - YOO-niss
Kaya - KIE-uh (first syllable rhymes with pie)
Kaia - same as KayaI don't really think pronouncing Eunice as yoo-NEES would work, since she'd have to correct everyone all the time. People tend to mispronounce my name, and that's kind of annoying, but I can imagine really wishing I had a more "straightforward" name if that happened all the time.

Yes I think it works. I don't even know what the legitimate pronunciation of the name is but I've only heard it as YOO-niss.

Madeline: Madda-Lyn.
Eunice: Yoo-Niss.
Kaya: Kye-a.
Kaia: same.I've never heard Eunice pronounced any way other than Yoo-Niss, so I think saying it Yoo-Neez would sound very pretentious.

Madeline - mad-LEEN (except it's one of those N's that's barely there)
Eunice - uu-NIS
Kaya and Kaia - kie-AYes, I think yoo-NEES could work. I don't think Eunice is nearly popular enough to have a set pronunciation.

I'm not sure.

Madeline - MAD-ə-lin
Eunice - YOO-nis
Kaya - KAY-a
Kaia - KIE-aI don't think so, I've never heard it said that way and you can't just make up a new pronunciation for something. However, if it's just for your own hypothetical use, then I suppose you can pronounce it however the heck you want. :)

Mad-a-lynnYOO-nisKai-aKai-aNo, I don't think it would. Eunice is the accepted pronunciation, and an "older" name, and I think it would be extremely difficult to change. I just don't think it would stick.

Madeline - MAD-ə-lin
Eunice - YOO-nis
Kaya - KIE-a
Kaia - KIE-aI have always heard Eunice pronounced YOO-nis. Eunice "yoo-NEES" wouldn't be the easiest name to have due to pronunciation issues, but it's not that different from Bernice " bər-NEES", so it doesn't seem that outlandish.

Madeline: MAHD-ah-line, though sometimes I go with the "-lin" ending instead
Eunice: YOO-nis
Kaya: KAY-ah
Kaia: ^same as KayaI'm not sure about the pronunication of Eunice as it is not a name that I have come across often. But maybe yoo-NEES could work.

Madeline: MAD-ə-lien (how it was pronounced in the film)
Eunice: YOO-nis
Kaya: KIE-ə (or maybe KAY-ə)
Kaia: KIE-ə (I love Kaia)yoo-NEES seems rather fairly counter-intuitive to me, like pronouncing Janice ja-NEES, since I've only heard it pronounced YOO-nis. Though it could work since Eunice is an uncommon name, but you might have to correct people on the pronunciation.

Madeline: Mad-uh-line
Eunice: You-niss (like katniss, but You instead of Kat)
Kaya: Ky-uh, but I can also see a smaller group of people pronouncing it Kay-uh
Kaia: Ky-uh I don't think anyone would ever pronounce a spelling like "Eunice" as "yoo-NEES."You would almost need to spell it Eunese, like a Bernese Mountain dog, or something similar. Love Madeline and Kaya/Kaia btw!

Madeline - this spelling = Mah-deh-line (as in draw a line)
Eunice - u-nis
Kaya - ky-ah
Kaia - ky-ahLove Kaia and like Kaya & MadelineI don't know anything about the legit prn. but the name is nmsaa either way. I do prefer the latter though- you-nees just sounds like someone saying you niece to me - as in hey you, niece! get me a beer!
