Re: Meaning of my name
Why couldn't it refer to animals? It seems perfectly reasonable that taming animals could have been an important task for people in ancient Greece, where the name Damian originated. Of course a word which meant "to tame or subdue" might also have referred to people. I'm not sure whether it could be accurately recovered today whether the first person called Damian (or its original Greek form) in history was named more with animals or people in mind.

Taming animals is the most literal meanings of Damazo. The name has a richer metaphorical background. In several classical texts, the notion has been used to describe emotions, love, goals and aspirations, etc. Its negative form "adamas" generated words such as "adamant" (anything fixed and/or unbreakable) as well as "diamond".
