odd sibset
My mom said that one of her co-workers is expecting a baby that is going to be named: Rocco. Apparently she has a six-year-old named Vincent and a daughter named Bobbie Anne (not sure how old she is [she is younger than Vincent], how it is spelled, or if that is a nickname). So WDYT?

I think Rocco and Vincent are great together. Bobbie doesn't fit in though.

Rocco and Vincent fit together to me, but Bobbie Anne doesn't at all. However, if it's Vincent, Roberta and Rocco, then, yes, they do fit. It's what I'd expect from and American family with Italian ancestry.

Rocco is very hypermasculine and Italian. Vincent is handsome and also has an Italian flavor. Bobbie Ann is cute in a Dust Bowl kind of way but there's definitely nothing Italian about it and none of what the other two names have.

I'm less interested in how sibling names work together than how well they work for the individual child with the surname. But I do know what you mean. Bobbie Anne does seem out of step here. Rocco and Vincent are solid, handsome classics. There could be lots of reasons for this: the parents like ecclectic styles, different SO for one child, honoring, and (as you say) it could involve a nn. If Bobbie is a nn for Roberta, then I'm good with it. I don't really care for Bobbie, per se. But if it's a nn then she has other options (Roberta, Birdy, Robin, etc.)

Huh, I get really different vibes from all of those names. Vincent is wearing a sweater-vest and playing with a calculator. Bobbie Ann has a checked button up shirt mostly unbottoned and cowboy boots. And Rocco is wearing a muscle shirt and jumping off the garage roof on his bike.

I think Rocco and Vincent work well as a sibset. I get the same feeling from them. It's actually a pretty nice sibset. Bobbie Anne (unplesant name!) makes it odd. I would get Bobbie and Rocco mixed up and they would be Bobbo and Rocky half the time.
