It's perfect. Whether you called her Miriam, Mim, Mimi, etc., I like how each is relatively uncommon. Mae on the end is short enough so the entire combo won't feel weighty, imo.

I wish we could. My grandmother made us swear to use it as a middle name. Mae Cecilia is really cool.

But even if you use it as a middle name, you could call her that on occasion.
