Isabel or Isabelle = Isabel because it's short, sweet, and simple. I probably prefer Isobel though and Isabella more than all of them.
Claire or Clare = Claire reflects better my pronunciation and I had a friend in primary school who spelt it this way, it's the only spelling that I've known and I think it looks better.
Kathryn or Catherine = Kathryn, I like the nickname Kate, I think it looks better than Cate. I would never actually use Kathryn or Catherine.
Kay or Kaye = Kay, I don't really see the need for the extra e.
Aveline or Evelyn = I pronounce these differently. (Aveline = AYV-lyn or AYV-line. and Evelyn = EV-lyn or EEV-lyn). I prefer Evelyn as seperate names.
Sara or Sarah = again I pronounce these differently. (Sara = SAR-rah. Sarah = SAIR-rah) I prefer Sara because I grew up with at least one or two Sarah's in all of my classes.
Marc or Mark = Mark, I tend to prefer K's.
Luc or Luke = except for here, I used to dislike Luc because I kept pronouncing it like Luck but there was a character on a show who spelt it like this which mae me like it more, I also think it makes more sense as a nn if your spelling Lucas with a c.
Jack or Jaques = I say Jaques with the s on the end, so again they are pronounces differently. If you want Jack said like Jack then i would go with Jack. But I prefer Jaques as a name because it is more unusual.
Niahm or Neve = Niamh, I prefer the traditional spellings to the angelised form.
Shawn or Sean = Sean, see above.
Celine or Selene = Selene, I would be more inclined to pronounce Celine wrong.
Kristina or Christina = Christina, though I don't really mind as I would use the nickname Tina which you can get from either.
Alan or Allen = Allen, it looks younger and fresher IMO.
