Hi,
I would like to have Chewa names for my soon coming twin-boys. I am a Christian so i atleast want them to have Chewa names that will also show appreciation to God for i have wanted twins for a long time.

Congratulations on your little twin boys!
There's the usual names for grace, hope, love, gift, blessings, promise, mercy and peace (Chisomo, Chiyembekezo, Chikondi, Mphatso, Madalitso, Lonjezo, Chifundo, Mtendere) which could fit in the Christian sense.
I'm also partial to 'praise' or 'thankful' names like Mayamiko, Yamikani, Tiyamike, and Thokozani, which would work to thank God for much-wanted twins. Together they can sound very similiar though (e.g. Tiyamike and Mayamiko are a little to close in sound for me).
Or Alinafe? God with us.
Mphatso and Madalitso (gift and blessings)
Mayamiko and Yamikani (both fitting with a praise [God] meaning; Yamikani meaning be grateful)
Tiyamike and Chisomo (let us praise [God] and grace)
Thokozani and Yamikani (thank [God] and be grateful/praise)
Just some ideas.

***Calling on Teacups*** Help needed***
Teacups, a regular poster here, gave a very informative post on Chewa names once. I'm sorry I'm not good at searching, but perhaps someone else can find it for you.
Congratulations and good luck with your twin sons! I love that you want to use their native names. It will be very distinguished and distinctive on them. Try saying that three times quickly. :-D
P.S. I can't help putting in a pitch for the middle name of Thomas for one of them. It means twin. Just a thought.

I'm woefully ignorant about African names, but I did find a few Chewa names online that might suit.
Chisomo - "baby who is a blessing"
Khumbo - "wish/baby who fulfills a long-awaited wish"
Imikizani - "to wait patiently for something"
Chawezi "Gift (from God)" would be perfect, but it looks like it's Tumbuka, not Chewa.

Chisomo means grace so I think that meaning is more than a stretch...
Mphatso would be the Chewa equivalent of Chawezi. :)
Not sure about Imikizani?? Pretty sure that's not Chichewa and def doesn't mean that. As David is presumably Chichewa-speaking he might shed some light. I only speak intermediate Chichewa
I had a peruse of that book - very interesting! Would like to get my hands on a hard copy, it's fascinating. The part about various names of an individual is dead-on, too. Love it! As far as I know most of the names I posted in this thread are unisex. In fact I thought the majority of Chewa names weren't really gendered (although some were used more on one gender than the other) but I could be wrong. A couple of the names in the book he had down as 'male' or 'female' and I've seen 'em on both.
