Poitou was city-state/kingdom in western France; it's capital was Poitiers. I'm not sure when it was founded and when it fell, but I know it existed in the 1100 and 1200s. At one point, Eleanor of Aquaintaine ruled it."Les yeux sont aveugles. Il faut chercher avec le coeur." -- Le Petit Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
