Since Jem was an old (male) nn for James. Jemmie / Jemmy was another nn of James in the Middle Ages. (Incidentally, I believe Jemmie and Jem eventually gave rise to our modern Jimmy and Jim.)Jemma could be a feminine form of either Jem or Jemmie.Miranda
