At the top of this page it sez "the etymology and history of first names". Once again we seem to have transmogrified into BabyZone.com!
I am raising an onomastic warcry to declare Jihad! on the expectant, gravid infidels and call upon Brer Pavlos and other faithful to stand fast. Once again we must drive the breathy "Oooo! which name do you like best?" questions into an alternate namesite universe, such as LifetimeChannel.com/babynames or whatever that's called where Nan goes troll-slayin'.
Katie D., before it's too late, please exercise your prerogative to drive the babychangers out of the Temple!

The cycle always repeating itself, old bean. Babynuke exorcism is succeeded by "single digit caballero" periods, eventual new caballero initiations, and the eventual return of the "Breehanna-mongers".

Hey, Mike,
Nope, not confused, just a little garbled. It was late, and I was trying to watch an old movie and type at the same time.
Katie Doyle runs the other (troll-slayin) site and what I wanted was to appeal to her to get HER site back on track (it's gotten far more BabyZoneish than here, with an all-expectant-mothers-all-the-time content, altho it didn't start that way). I know she peeps in here now and then, but it would've made more sense to post that on HER board. Duhh...
BTN is not far-gone in this respect, and I'm sure we can nudge the heading of this ship (if enough posters want to, that is) without upsetting anyone (much) or requiring Divine/Webmaster intervention.

I wouldn't be too worried about the topics on the board. This ship has a way of righting itself, at least it has in the past. You've been here longer than anyone apart from myself so I'm sure you've noticed the waxing and waning of various subjects. It's probably the result of some pregnancy site linking to BtN temporarily.
Personally, as long as a message is somehow related to names or etymology then I'm ok with it.

I'm cool with that, but you gotta realize that as the old geezer of the board (and I mean in years on the planet, not the site), I've gotta kvetch about SOMETHING. Nan will tell you it's what I do.
Nonetheless, as just one person with no special claim of privileges, I will bow to the will of the "responsible" majority in where this goes. If things get too tense or annoying, I can always go hang out on a LotR or Black & White (great game!) or auto site for a few days...

Which side of the Black & White cookie should I bite out of first...?
Have to admit that I'd never heard of the Black & White game. Checked it out, and found this bit from the FAQ particularly intriguing:
"In Black & White you can be the god you want to be. Will you rule with a fair hand, making life better for your people? Or will you be evil and scare them into prayer and submission? No-one can tell you which way to be. You, as a god, can play the game any way you choose."
"Is it better to be good or evil?"
"It makes no difference. If you kill all your followers, that’s very evil and you will suffer because you’ll have fewer people praying to you. But there are many ways to be evil without causing death. Being evil makes your tribes worship you harder through fear, but being good means that you’ll have people worshipping through happiness, so either is good."

Makes a change from playing Satan, in which one doesn't give a crap whether people worship you or not -- through fear or through good. :)

It's interesting that the inventor of the game observes that 95% of American testers (at game shows, beta sessions, etc.) elected to adopt the "good" role whereas in "certain European countries" the percentage was nearly reversed.
