hi guys. this is a really cool site. i was just wondering if you knew what the meaning behind my last name, "Maiti", is. sometimes it's also spelled "Maity", if that helps. it's an indian name. thanks.

Indian as in American Indian or Asian Indian?

I've never heard of this name, but it looks a bit German to me. It may have something to do with the German word "klar" (clear) or else with the Italian name Clara (which is the same).
I even found a possible connection with Hilarius.

Woodard (or Huddart) is an old English surname from the two elements Eold English "wudu" (wood) and "hierde" (herd). So the meaning would be "one who tends animals feeding in an wood" (probably a swineherd). (Taken from: Oxford, A Dictionary of English Surnames, 1997).
