Thanks. But maybe the Yiddish form / pet form is Iwel?

that might be cause i found some surnames:
abelski = son of abel (obvious)
iwelski = son of iwel (so iwel is a name)
and ibelski (this seems like the middle form between abel and iwel and so it was right after all i guess
but it must have been the Yiddish that changed it cause it is not a normal Ubergang from the letter 'b' to 'w' in Polish as i believe
