Re: Jewish name for Zlata
"Gold" in Hebrew is "zahav", but I don't know, whether there is a name based on this vocabulary word. It would be ZEHAVAH rather than ZAHAVA (with the stress on the third syllable). (cf. YEDIDAH as the female equivalent to YADID)Andy ;—)

Zlata (which comes from the word for "gold" in various Slavic languages) was used as a Jewish name, and so was the Yiddish Golda/Golde. AFAIK Zahava/Zehava is used in Israel, sometimes as the equivalent of these (ie Zahava after grandma Golde) I don't think it was a name before, but I'm not sure.Sincerely, Rosomaqa
