It could still have the origin listed in the database (short form of Audrey). Lots of nicknames and short forms get used as full names.If you go to the Audie link and click on 'Popularity' you'll see that it's definitely been used as a full name from time to time.Some other nicknames popular as given names in the 1920s:Willie (28th)

Yes, indeed - but it's the gender-bending element that is dubious for the 20s, when boys were not named Sue ...Technically, there's nothing different about naming a boy Audrey and naming a girl Aubrey. But people's perceptions about them are still very different.
