Re: "Ludgarda" - what does it mean?
Saint Ludgarda is revered by women in many cultures as the patron of "easy deliveries". Presumably that's why you find small statues of her on the dashboards of UPS trucks...(Didn't spot the meaning, but I'll keep looking.)

The saint's name is alternatively spelled Luthgard or Lutgard, and is Latinized as Lutgardis. She was a 13th-century nun from Belgium. One might guess her name is comprised of the (Low) Germanic elements lud meaning "people" and gart "enclosure". The first element could also be from hlud "fame".
