1.) I don't think so. I pull enough faces by myself that I don't need to mimic others. I wonder what it means if you do vs don't. Do the people who mimic facial expressions do it to fit in better? To make the other person feel more comfortable? Is it an empathic thing?

2.) A lot of good answers here already so I'll keep this short--yes, it's changing but that doesn't mean it should be used as an insult. I think less of the people who use it to mean weak, lame, stupid, etc.
