Not to mention they'd be little more than sideshows for the general public because it's unlikely the scientists could or would make a large enough population for them to feel or be more accepted, and the issue that the few that would be around would inevitably breed into the general population as their ancestors did due to few options amongst themselves and the risk of inbreeding, and once again the species would go extinct.
The whole idea is cruel and pointless and that man is a fool.
