Well I get that it might not be polite but I very rarely find myself in situations where I ask people probing questions on my own. I mean with close friends and family sure. In which case its not impolite because you're close. But I find that people I barely know will tell me these things about them that I didn't bring up at all, and then someone I'm expected to not comment on it if its 'abnormal' (and I don't actually mean abnormal, I just can't think of another word). I guess I just don't get it, it seems like the natural second step after someone says 'I don't want/like/enjoy x thing', nobody's being judgmental it just a curiosity thing. Idk maybe I'm just weird but generally if I feel or doing something out of the ordinary, I don't feel its rude or impolite to ask me why.

Although there is this guy in my group of friends who constantly asks why I'm not drinking and then acts like I'm a total weirdo for not doing it. Like sorry buddy, I just don't feel the need to get hammered every night. Which I think is rude because he does it literally every single time I see him.
