2. I don't think it's really offensive, but it could be inappropriate and I'd only ask a close friend. I don't see why people should have to be asked about it or feel compelled to justify it. I actually see wanting children as more of a change because in most western countries you live as an adult not having children and then you make a decision to stop using your birth control method and do it. Also, the person might have had fertility problems in the past. That might not be the kind of thing they feel like discussing.
3. I think I know more people who are really successful and have really good lives which just fall into their laps. I always have to work hard and I hate being surrounded by those people who things just seem to work out for quite easily. I don't think they feel particularly entitled, they're just privileged.
