I used to be quite vain and simultaneously very negative about the way I looked. My mum was a model, but I can't blame her for all of my hangups. I was just insecure in every way.
Now I am happy because my body has been through a lot and it's still working. I feel much better about it than in my teens and early twenties. I go on fieldwork and I do punish myself a bit, but I feel pretty strong.
It's strange because I make less of an effort with my appearance, wear less makeup, less expensive clothes and recently I've gained a not so flattering 5lbs and people probably think I look rubbish, but I feel ok about everything! I might try to lose the weight so I can wear my summer clothes, but that's it.
