Abe has another origin, which is Jewish. It is pronounced as two syllables, and is from Aramaic 'abba' (father) which was used as a first name in Talmudic times instead of Abraham.

I really think this name is a refreshing alternative in a sea of Aidans, Jaelins or Kadens today. It is classic, strong, comfortable and interesting. I like how it can grow with a person. Excellent choice for a name, especially as a nickname for Abraham.

This name is way too close to "ape". I certainly wouldn't want to be considered with something as primitive as that.
