A Greek name, Akakia (f) Akakios (m), from the Greek word akakia, meaning not bad, good. (a-kakos, non-good).-- Damis 3/3/2005

An acacia is a tree.-- Anonymous User 6/23/2006
I used to prefer this pronounced a-KAY-see-a. Now I say a-KAY-sha. I really like this name!-- claraelizabethann 8/27/2006
I think it would be cute if there was a nickname for it like "Cacy" (kay-SHEE) or "Cacy" (kay-SEE). Lovely name.-- katykat 10/16/2006
Ugh. Ridiculous name.-- Anonymous User 11/15/2006
I like this name but only a certain person could "pull it off" me thinks. It would be great on an exotic beauty but not a plain Jane.-- Kitten 4/6/2007
This name is so gorgeous. :]-- dreadfulxsorry 6/29/2007

I argee with Kitten, only a certain person could pull off this name. Like some exotic beauty. It's great for a character, but I don't like it for a person.-- spaz123 9/15/2007
I like the pronunciation 'Ah-cay-see-ah' that I thought it was before finding out the actual pronunciation better, but it's a pretty name either way. I used it as the middle name of one of characters, and she was indeed very exotic; I agree that this name only fits some people, and characters better than actual people.-- Iridosmine 9/22/2007
The bullhorn acacia is a common tree in the Yucatan, best known for its symbiotic relationship with ants. The ants live in the hollowed out thorns of the tree and fiercly protect it from any intruder in return for their comfortable home.-- trace_lc 4/12/2008
Note that this name has a rather typical ghetto name ending.-- slight night shiver 4/19/2008
I know an Acacia. She's very nice, and sweet, but no 'exotic beauty.' However, I have always thought this name was a bit weird.-- Anonymous User 7/27/2008
I love this name because it's my name. When I was younger I didn't like it so much because people would always pronounce it wrong but now I like it. I realize it's a rare, but beautiful name (and now more people pronounce it correctly and they ask which way because in Spanish it's pronounced slightly different). Like the other people said, i think only certain people can pull off this name and I think I do it well.-- bmarie 9/4/2008
I don't like the pronunciation, but the way it's spelled is very pretty, and so are the trees. It sounds tropical to me.-- _0TophasNails_1 12/15/2008
Pronounced "ah-kah-see-yah".-- MaggieSimpson 7/13/2009
It's pretty, but I think it's better as a middle name.-- -Julia- 8/23/2009
