This name strikes me as delectably beautiful. It has a lovely sound and an appealing meaning. It could easily be adopted to honour a relative called Adela, Adele, or Alice, which have the same meaning.

Despite the meaning "noble" the Hebrew word Adar has its linguistic roots in the Assyrian word for "cloudy" or "darkness". The Hebrew Adar is the root of the word Adir ("power") which has given rise to another pretty Hebrew name for girls, Adira. In the Talmud "adar" or "adara" denotes a flag or sail.
