This is a pretty name without being too fancy, and with a charming meaning. To me it sounds prettier than its short form, "Mabel" (largely due the pronunciation), not that I don't like the name "Mabel".

This is a great name, and a very nice alternative to Annabel with a lovely meaning. It is uncommon, but not strange.

My name is Annabel and the name Amabel reminds me of a little kid who can't pronounce Annabel properly. Sorry all those Amabel's.

I love this name because it's unpopular and it means exactly the same thing as my name (Amanda). It also sounds like Annabel, which is a cute name.

I like the name Amabel, but I prefer Mabel, which I love. The "a" is just too random. When I first heard this name all I could think about was the word 'aimiable'. I do prefer this name over Annabel (sorry), and over Amanda (eew, sorry, I can't help it.) But still, I would never name my child Amabel. Sorry.

Are you guys pronouncing this name "AM-ə-bel" like Annabel or "ə-MAY-bəl" like Mabel? Or some other way - "AYM-ə-bəl" like the word amiable, "AYM-ə-bel".? What do you think?
