I have a friend with this name and everyone pronounces it just like "Anne". As a side note, I'd like to say that her full name An Tam Phan.

An is also Chinese, and used in Chinese compound names or as a first name in itself. It is pronounced as "Unn" and it means "peace" in Chinese too.

Being an actual "An", I adore having an exotic name. People tend to have difficulty adjusting to it's spelling. I also made sure people pronounce it as Anne to make life easier for myself. They also don't feel too comfortable spelling it, but I'll force them to put up with it until they get used to it. It's absurd, however, to have a unisex name. I get confused a lot with boys around the place that are named Anh (Vietnamese too).
