I love the way that this name looks and sounds; "AHN-yah" just rolls off of the tongue beautifully.

That may be how "j" is pronounced in English, but not in the Germanic and Slavic langages (damn the lack of rules in English pronunciation). "AHN-jah", I'm sorry, but that just throws it away.

I think this name is gorgeous, especially with the Scandinavian j in it. I'm not sure what about that appeals to me, but I think it makes it look wonderful.

And: You must remember, Taydbug112, that the entire world does not abide by the rules of your language English. In the languages that this name originates in, the j makes the "y" sound and it is perfectly correct.

Perhaps not so famous a bearer is one of my favourite models, Anja Rubik, who was born in Poland in 1985. Stunning name, and I agree: I much prefer the name pronounced with a Y.
