Comments for AOIBHÍN:
Pronounced either EE-veen or A-veen.-- Sweetie lu freebush 7/9/2006
I love this name! I think it's lovely. It sounds so beautiful and elegant, and the only Aoibhín I know is exactly like her name. It'a a great alternative to the overly-popular Aoife. It makes me think of an intelligent girl who's got long, brown, wavy hair, green eyes, and a great personality. Aoibhín isn't a common name in Ireland, but it isn't unheard of, either. Plus, using this name would give me an excuse to make her nickname Evo (which is a name I really like, but, unfortunately it's a car), and I would spell it Aoibhó, so no one would be any the wiser. :)-- Ailis 7/7/2009
Aoibhín isn't a variant of Aoibheann. It's a diminitive of Aoibhe. It means "little Aoibhe", while Aoibheann means "beautiful sheen". -ín is a dimintive suffix in Irish, like -y in English.-- Ailis 7/16/2009
