Comments for ARIADNE:
After Theseus abandoned her on an island, she met Dionysos, who was the god of wine, and they got married. He gave her the gift of immortality.-- Anonymous User 2/9/2005
Beautiful name with awesome mythological connotations.-- tmarie 12/16/2005
This was the name of the main character in the 'The Heart Has...' book series (The Heart Has Its Reasons, The Heart Has Forever and The Heart Only Knows) by Kerry Blair.-- KawaiiLittleMeg 1/16/2006
I think this is a very lovely name. It's also one of my friend's name and everyone says how classy and admirable it sounds.-- Milene 3/13/2006
I've always associated this name with the name of Adrianna or Adriana. There has only been one Ariadne I've known in my life and was pronounced AREE-AD-NUH or AREE-ANNE (with a silent 'd'). Ariadne is quite a unique name blessed with beauty, grace and purity.-- Anonymous User 4/7/2006
This is one of my most favorite names. It is such an elegant name with a lovely meaning.-- Anonymous User 5/7/2006
This name appeared on the TV series Judging Amy as the daughter of a character named Donna.-- Anonymous User 6/7/2006
I think that this name is the most beautiful thing that you can ever name your beloved daughter! Why use platitudinous names like Isabella, Kayla, Emily and Emma, when there is this? So delicate, pure and indubitable! My second daughter is going to be named this and I certainly repute that she will live up to her name.-- Starla-Marie_1993 8/4/2006
I think I would like this name if it didn't remind me so much of 'Rodney'. I also sort of fancy the pronuncation "air-eee-AY-den", but that's just me.-- Pheadirean 8/28/2006
It wouldn't remind you of Rodney if you said it correctly. Rodney is "ROD-nee" not "RADNEE" and Ariadne is said like the site says. I love this name, it is amazingly beautiful.-- Anonymous User 2/17/2007
Ariadne Oliver is a recurring character in Agatha Christie's novels. She is a flighty mystery writer who is extremely fond of apples. In several of the stories she tries to help Hercule Poirot solve mysteries by using her "feminine intuition."-- breakofday 9/27/2006
I think this is a beautiful name! (Let's all hope it doesn't become to common)-- Anonymous User 11/13/2006
I LOVE this name, it's so beautiful! I personally like the pronunciation 'are-ee-add-nuh', but that's just me.-- _clippit_ 3/5/2007
This name is so beautiful and not too popular so that's just great. Anyone who wants their child to be named Arianna/Ariana (etc.) should consider this instead. I like the pronunciations, "are-ee-A-den" or "are-ODD-nee/are-ee-ODD-nee.-- Dessa 4/9/2007
Ariadne Artiles is a Spanish model.-- Anonymous User 8/6/2007
I much prefer Ariana. The "d" to me disrupts the visual image of the name as well as creates an uncertainty as to the pronunciation. Ariana is pretty hard to mispronounce, although it can be done just like with any other name. Ariadne is just trying too hard!-- Tango 8/9/2007
In the 80's Fantasy movie "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen", the queen of the moon was named Ariadne. I think this is a beautiful name, however, responding to what someone said earlier, my name is Emma and I think it is one of the best female names. Anyway, Ariadne is quite pretty.-- harry_sent_me 9/8/2007
I think this is a really nice name. I pronounce it AH-ree-AHD-nee. The meaning is great and it's so unique!-- dreamgirl54 11/11/2007
Saint Ariadne was a second-century martyr of Phrygia who, according to tradition, was a slave killed after refusing to perform pagan rites.-- AndrewJKD 4/27/2008
In another version of her story, Theseus left her behind by mistake. When he returned for her, he found her missing, and presumed her dead, which deeply hurt him.-- FMRadio 7/30/2008
This is the name of the actress/singer Ariadne Diaz from the mexican soap opera "Al Diablo con los Guapos" aka Florencia Chavaria and shes also in Muchachitas como Tu.-- Anonymous User 8/31/2008
This name is beautiful as it is, period. If not for the possibly sacrilegious meaning, I wouldn't mind naming my daughter this, honestly.-- seraphine_eternal 1/19/2009
It's different. It's unique. It's beautiful.-- kool_babe14 5/7/2009
The d isn't pronounced in the French version of the name, making it more like 'Ariane'.-- Anonymous User 5/16/2009
It's a good name for an 80 year old woman. How would you pronounce it, like AH REE AAADNEE! Ugly.-- Anonymous User 8/25/2009
