I like this name, but I'd never use it because Aslan from Chronicles of Narnia represents Jesus Christ, and because of that the name seems sacred to me.

I agree with Pippin. (Plus, if I actually called my child Aslan he would be teased ENDLESSLY).

I think it's really cool that Aslan means 'lion'! It is very fitting, then, that C. S. Lewis used the name for his character. Aslan the Lion is one of my favorite characters in all of literature. (I think that might be because he represents Jesus Christ. =))

Aslan is a pretty common Turkish surname. In Turkey they wouldn't automatically think of Jesus Christ when hearing 'Aslan' as Turkey is a Muslim country and I don't think Narnia was a big thing there.

Anyway, Aslan can also be spelt Arslan.
