I liked this name when my 7 year old brother was a baby but now I hate it! He is so mean, as we speak he is throwing some big old hard thing at me and hitting me in the back. I like the masculine sound it has to it though!

Steve Austin was the "Six Million Dollar Man." He was played by Lee Majors.

I'm a girl, and this is my middle name. I really like it, because it's unique for my gender and it blends nicely with my first name.

Austin Nicholas is an actor.

A bit overused but otherwise okay.

Austin = Popular, cute, stuck-up, athletic, JERK. Sorry, I base my opinion on all the Austins I know. There are good ones out there though! Ok name though.

I agree with Miamya. she is so right. My best friend's name is Austin. He is athletic, brags a lot, and very full of himself.

Austin is the coolest name in the world.
-- ian63089  6/22/2006
To me, this is the epitome of a trendy, faddy name which will become quite dated.
-- gigibee  7/19/2006
I like this name for a boy. I know of 2 boys with this name one is 6 and the other is 3.

I can only think of the car when I hear it. And of Austin, Texas, although there are other places called Austin. (I think Steven Austin was the founder of Texas.)

In the film 'A Cinderella Story', starring Hilary Duff, Austin Aimes is the main male character.

Well, my son is named Austin Hunter and I love it. I named him after "Austin" on Days of Our Lives. The older Austin real name is Patrick Muldoon, he is such a cutie. Anyway, my son likes his name and there are not too many in his class which is what I was going for. : )

It's a cool name.

There are A LOT of Austins (and Austens) at our school. I think there are around 25, and that's only 3 grades in a 3A school.

I think this is an adorable name for a little boy, and it grows up well, too. I know one Austin, and he's a really funny, likable guy.

The name Austin can be dated back to the 19th century, and perhaps earlier than that. The 19th century poet Emily Dickinson had a brother named William Austin. He went by the name Austin though.

Intersting fact #2 - Texas has a big city named Austin. The city is considered to be pretty liberal politically and has been called "the blueberry in a raspberry field." The Raspberry field refers to Texas on a whole being conservative. Austin, Texas even has a sign that reads, "Keep Austin Weird."

My son's name is Austin. I love this name. It's very nice. No room for teasing here. I look out for that because I was a victim of teasing as a kid.
-- melarulz  5/9/2008
I really like this name. It's really cute.

Austin is not only the name of a city in Texas, it's the capital of Texas. This name is extremely overused, and I urge everyone to avoid it, even if you live in Texas. The same goes for Cody, Wyatt, Dallas, and Colt.
-- faye  1/24/2009
Way way way too overused. 39 Austins go to my school.
-- liver  3/28/2009
I reallyyyy like Austin. But my only problem is that it won't be so "oh-my-gosh-that-is-so-adorable" when he's fifty.
-- Makenna14  5/5/2009
My little brother's name is Austin. There are a lot of Austins around our town, but he is the only one his age. I love this name. It sounds so sweet. :)

Never liked this name. I'm still hearing it on way too many boys under the age of ten, and once I even walked past some people who were having a conversation about how every time one of them called for Austin, ten little boys would turn around! When I hear this name, I think, "Ooh, over-trendy parents!" There's also the association (in New England at least) with the Austen Riggs psychiatric hospital in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
-- Anyechka  8/12/2009
I like it, but everyone else seems to like it as well. Now it's very boring and overused. I wouldn't use it.
-- bananarama  8/21/2009
I don't know why everyone is saying this name is overused. I've only met one Austin in my life. But I live in NYC, maybe it's more common in other places. Anyway, I like this name. But I don't think it ages very well. Imagine an eighty-year old man named Austin. It doesn't fit.
