Comments for DAEDALUS:

Everyone I know pronounces this DAY-dal-us, and my Latin teacher pronounces it DIE-dal-us. I've never heard the DED-a-lus pronunciation.

The ded-a-lus pronunciation might come from seperating the name into a composite name, of the root daedale, and then alus, a reference to the sea.

Another spelling is Dedalus, like Dedalus Diggle from Harry Potter! :o)

Stephen Dedalus is the protagonist of James Joyce's semi-autobiographical "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man". He seems to be a general alter-ego of the writer, and appears in many of Joyce's works.
