Comments for DAFFODIL:
The Dafodil, sometimes called Jonquil, is the flower of March.-- Tbird 7/27/2005
I kinda like the name. It'd be cute to be called Dil, but you'd probably end up being called Daffy, and then being compared to Daffy Duck.-- gin_rummy 8/5/2005
I feel sorry for whoever has this name.-- Anonymous User 9/25/2005
Really gorgeous but I do prefer Jonquille and Asphodel. I feel sorry for people who cannot appreciate floral classics.-- Anonymous User 8/6/2006
"Daffodils" was a poem by William Woodsworth. I believe it was written in 1804. Anyway, the daffodils had such an impression on the poet and he remembered them whenever he was feeling "blue." I remember one line in particular, "A poet could not help but be gay in such jocund company."-- Libby2 4/5/2008
Well, it's an absolutely hideous name. Whether you call the girl Daff, Daffy, Daffo, Dil, or Dilly, all the nicknames are hideous too!-- slight night shiver 5/19/2008
A slight improvement on Daphne but still yields the silly Daffy nickname. I don't find it any more ridiculous than Violet or Rose, just far less saturated.-- Anonymous User 5/31/2008
I love this name, and I don't think people should be able to call names hideous. Besides, who says you have to use a nickname, or even a nickname that makes sense? I think Daffodil, nickname Dafne is adorable. I personally love this as a middle name.-- Chanel 6/20/2008
Sorry, I don't like this name. I usually love floral names but this just puts me off.-- MisquotedWarrior 8/20/2008
Good name for a cat, especially if she is born or adopted in Spring.-- Anonymous User 2/7/2009
In the language of flowers, the Daffodil means uncertainty, chivalry, respect, or unrequited love. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_of_flowers.)-- SeaHorse15 4/9/2009
I love flower names (from Azalea to Zinnia), but I can't look at this one without thinking of Daffy Duck.-- erb816 4/30/2009
