Actually, 'Eder' is a male name. Its female variant is 'Eider', which comes from the Basque souletine dialect. [noted -ed]

My boyfriend is named similarly: Idir. He is Berber, not Basque, but many argue that the two languages are related to each other. Maybe Idir should be Eder because he is handsome!
