There's a Monty Python skit called "Eric the Half-Bee". It's about a guy trying to get a "fish liscence" for his pet "'allibut" Eric (which he pronounced "Eddic"). Eric is also the pet bee in the skit (a half-bee, he had an accident). Apparently the guy in that skit names all his pets Eric.

See, I know this is a VERY common name. I myself think it is very manly. Plus, it's really simple and short. I'm glad it's not a long drag of letters or something along that. I think it's an excellent name to name your baby. For the weirdos who don't like the name, I think it's best not to flame on it!
