UGH. This name was NOT popular until those High School Musical movies. I can't stand them, and neither can my kids, so they don't watch them, but I still don't like this name. I especially don't like "Gabby". This name is too long for a kid to have to write. I wouldn't name my kid Gabriella, it sounds too little kidish. In Italy Gabriella was typical of the 1940s. It was the 3th most popular name in Rome in 1941 (behind Annamaria and Anna, with the double name Maria Gabriella 25th) and the 7th in 1946.
