Overused as a middle name, but is always refreshing as a first name and can easily grow with a child.-- Anonymous User 12/2/2004
It´s not only overused as a middle name, it´s also overused as a first name, it´s almost in the top ten.-- Destry 4/14/2005

I really like this name, very beautiful yet simple and sophisticated, lovely.-- Laleroc 7/5/2005
I love this name. I think it is very beautiful. I just think it's hard to put with a middle name - example: Grace Lynn sounds too much like Graceland.-- Anonymous User 7/20/2005
I like the name - it's elegant, but not too snooty. I think it can be nice with middle names. I like it.-- Anonymous User 9/18/2005
This was also the name of the famous murderer Grace Marks who killed her employer in 1852 along with his mistress. I'm not a particular fan of this name but I think that the name reminds me of the murderer and that's why.-- Gianna 10/10/2005
My middle name is Grace, but I've recently started using it as my first name because there are just too many Rebeccas, and a surprising number of people keep spelling it wrong, and I answer the class roll call at the wrong Rebecca - so Grace is much easier. It's a nice name.-- Sneasel 11/9/2005
My name is Grace Regina and I have always liked the sound it. I've never disliked my name and I carry it with pride.-- GC20005 12/20/2005
My grandmother's version of the name was spelled GRAYCE. I always thought that it was unique.-- Anonymous User 1/3/2006
OK, I live in Alabama and I am here to testify that every little girl who is born here has Grace either as a first or middle name. It's pretty but it is getting very trendy and unoriginal.-- bedrock 1/6/2006

Grace means A gift you don't deserve. I love this name!-- Miamaya 3/3/2006
I never liked this name until I heard of Grace Kelly, the American actress who married Prince Ranier of Monaco on April 19, 1956. She was such a beautiful and amazing woman - a TRUE princess! I think that a nice name for my daughter would be Grace Kelly _______ (last name).-- Anonymous User 3/30/2006

This name is used A LOT now for a middle name.-- Anonymous User 6/12/2006
Grace is my middle name and never a prouder inital in my signature is there. I hated my first name but found a great pleasure in my middle name. It also diffreniated me from the other 3 or 4 Lynda's in my family. I realized a few years ago that most people don't sign their name in print not cursive with their middle name. I do, or abreviated with a proud middle initial.-- invisiblewatcher 6/12/2006
Famous bearer: Grace Ingalls, the youngest of the Ingalls sisters in Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" books.-- Eruanna_Meldiriel 6/23/2006
I used to get very anoyed with my name because of the endless rhyming oppertunites kids loved to use eg. graceface etc. But it's only now that I've realised how lucky I am to have been given such a beautiful elegant name and I'm proud of it!-- Sweetie lu freebush 7/9/2006
I noticed many Christian people name their daughters Grace to honor God and His grace.-- pink_floyd_fan 7/26/2006
Grace was used a lot from 1880 to 1920.-- Anonymous User 9/19/2006

Grace (Snyder) Edwards was the name of a character on the 1970s family drama "Little House on the Prairie".

Hate it. Sounds like an 80 year old woman.-- Anonymous User 10/12/2006
This is a lovely middle name!-- Taydbug112 12/9/2006
My daughter's name is Grace. Although her full name is HanaGrace Leila Rose, but she loves the name so much, that she goes by Grace. We've called her that since she was born.-- Anonymous User 12/23/2006
I absolutely adore this name and if I have a daughter, I hope to call her Grace Elizabeth. I have been back and forth on this, I mean whether to use Grace Elizabeth or Elizabeth Grace. My Grandmother's first name is Elizabeth, it's my middle name, and one of my cousins' middle names. Both after her. If I get to use it, I will call her Grace Elizabeth, not just Grace, usually. Sometimes Gracie Beth.-- Sarah Elizabeth 12/27/2006
Grace is the name of a song by U2. Some of the lyrics go: "Grace, it's a name for a girl. It's also a thought that changed the world."-- SSF 1/2/2007
My best friend is named Bethany Grace and she hates her first name and only goes by Grace but never Gracie. I find Gracie a bit annoying but Grace is a lovely name and I will always think of it fondly because of her.-- Anonymous User 2/22/2007
My mother seriously considered naming me this, then she just named me something that means Grace. It's not so much that I don't like the name, as everyone I know (including myself) whose name is or means Grace is clumsy as all get out. I am a walking casualty case and so are most Graces I know. I beg people not to name their children this because it is like a curse. And beleive me it hurts to trip that much or run into that many doors.-- YMPvt 3/25/2007
I like this name. I find it beautiful and simply elegant, and not just because of Grace Kelly. It's also a name in my family, born by multiple ancestors and relatives of mine (as early as the 16th century).-- Anonymous User 4/3/2007
My daughter was just born in 2006 and I named her Grace. We have a very long last name and wanted something short and beautiful. Grace was it. It goes well with her middle name Lenore after my recently passed Grandmother.-- Dylan_and_Graciesmom 4/20/2007
There are no people named this in my grade, but I do agree that it is starting to get overused.-- CharlieRob 5/5/2007
Not quite pretty enough for a first name, but I think it's CHARMING as a middle name. Like Lila Grace, Kate Moss's daughter. What an elegant combination.-- MicaLilah 5/21/2007
Actor Balthazar Getty and his wife Rosetta Millington have a daughter Grace (born 2001).-- Karcoolka 6/16/2007
I think this name is really pretty, it was supposed to be my name.-- Groovy128 8/24/2007
My first name is Mary Grace (I have no middle name). I absolutely love my name. I think it's beautiful, and I think it's a rather mature name, I mean I can't really see a little girl going by Mary Grace. That's why I was "Gracie" right up through college when I started going by Mary Grace. It truly is the perfect name, I honestly can't think of a better one. :D-- gracielou16 8/27/2007
I love the name Grace. I think that it says that it means grace. Every baby is a grace so it's an approprite name. I like Julia Grace.-- Anonymous User 9/1/2007
My mother says it would have been the ultimate irony if my name had been Grace. I am a total klutz. Everyone I know who has Grace as part of their name is a total klutz as well.-- sharonrenee 9/14/2007
Famous bearer--Grace Slick, vocalist in The Great Society, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and Starship. Currently an artist.-- venerablenan 9/19/2007
Nice name. It has the sound of a rivulet. Good religious connotation.-- johann14 9/25/2007
My name is Grace Pearl. I used to be a little shy about telling people my first and middle names but now, I think its SO cool! (I am 41, but when I was 10, I was not happy with it) UNIQUE! "Grace" is making a big comeback these days.-- gpearl66 10/17/2007
Grace O'Malley, another notorious female pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy.-- Anonymous User 10/25/2007
My parents named me after my late great grandmother Grace. I have always loved my name, as I feel it is unique in many ways. I know that there was a famous actress by the name of Grace Kelly, and a murderer and such, but I still only know 2 people by the name of Grace, and that is my Great Grandmother and me.-- Anonymous User 10/30/2007
I get so annoyed with all this STUPID talk of Grace simply meaning graceful. It does not! It means something TOTALLY different! It means His saving Grace. That gift He gave to us by having His son die on the cross.-- gravey 10/30/2007
How interesting that at least one poster (apparently a Christian) finds any other interpretation of this name than a religiouous one STUPID. It is actually derived from the Latin "gratia," which has several connotations. Understandably, devout Christians might choose the name precisely for the religious connotations. Non-religious families might select it for different reasons. Film buffs (and royalists) might want to honor Grace Kelly. Popular music fans might name their child after Grace Slick or Grace Jones. Interesting that despite all their differences, these Graces are all considered a bit cool and aloof. BTW, since Anna and all its variants are derived from the Hebrew word for "Grace," combos like Grace Ann or Anna Grace might be viewed as redundant.-- gbcallahan 6/29/2009
Famous Bearer includes Grace Ingalls, the youngest of the Ingalls sisters (sister of famous author Laura Ingalls Wilder), and fourth daughter of Charles & Caroline Ingalls.
Grace's Character was in the later of the 'Little House' books, portrayed by twins Wendi/Brenda Turnbaugh in the famous '70's-'80's television series, and also in many miniseries and movies based off of the life of the Ingalls Family.
Carrie Ingalls was born in 1877. She died in 1941.-- Sarah Elizabeth 10/31/2007
This name is sort of cute, but I certainly prefer it as a middle name. There are so many Graces out there that it has lost all sense of identity.-- Anonymous User 11/15/2007
I think this is a beautiful name, and I am considering using this for my first child's name if it's a girl.-- Elmo.Loves.You 12/18/2007
I think Grace along with Elizabeth, Rose, Marie, and Ann are ugly, overused middle names.-- Anonymous User 1/19/2008
My parents were going to name me Grace, I think it's a pretty name but it would not have fit me at all.-- Anonymous User 1/24/2008
Sounds like Grapes.-- jasmineenimsaj 2/8/2008
Grace is a classy name. It brings to mind an elegant, soft-spoken, yet strong woman of virtuous character.-- Jewelie 5/6/2008
This is a beautiful name.-- IrishRose45 5/21/2008
It's a very pretty name, but the almost inevitable association with Christianity is the reason I wouldn't want to use it myself. This is also far too common as a middle name. I must also admit that the first thing that comes to mind is a little girl rather than a woman, possibly partly because I actually watched The Nanny back in the 90s, and Grace was the youngest child on the show.-- slight night shiver 5/31/2008
I think that Grace is a rather pretty name. If I ever had a little girl, I might name her Grace Carolyn. This is after my grandmother; her first name is Carolyn, and she always wished her middle name was Grace. Since in my family we are in the practice of middle-naming our children after relatives, and since Grace is a pretty name in its own right, I think that Grace Carolyn would be a nice combination. Grace also has musical connotations to me, such as the song Grace (by U2) and Grace Slick, from Jefferson Airplane.-- Pippin 7/8/2008
Grace is a very lovely name.-- yohevid 8/12/2008

Famous 19th century British bearers:
Grace Aguilar, noted writer.
Grace Darling, who single-handedly rescued several men from a perilous sea.-- Jonquil 11/21/2008
I think it's pretty it's just a shame the adult Graces I run into are less than graceful and inspiring. Let's hope that changes with all the little Graces now running around.-- Anonymous User 11/24/2008
I hate, hate, HATE it when people call me Gracie. It is the most diminutive, little-girlish nickname I can think of. The trouble is, Grace doesn't exactly lend itself to any other, better, nicknames. However, I have grown to like my name a lot more because where I live there are very very few Graces and it makes me feel unique. I do, however, get tired of people telling me I have a lovely, old-fashioned name, since I had nothing to do with choosing it. I think Grace as a middle name should be dealt with very carefully and make sure it doesn't interrupt the overall flow of the name.-- authorgirl 11/24/2008
Grace is the middle name of my little girl. I know Grace is overused as a middle name, but it just goes so well with a lot of first names.-- Anonymous User 11/25/2008
Fantastic name like fantastic woman Grace Kelly.-- imojeen 6/16/2009
I think Grace is boring and unoriginal. It always reminds me "Grease".-- Anonymous User 8/11/2009
A famous bearer was American stage actress Grace Hartman (1907 - 1955). She was well known for her work in musical theatre, specifically "Angel in the Wings", for which she won the first Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.-- AndrewJKD 8/20/2009
No offense to any Graces, but I hate this name. It has so many harsh and ugly sounds, and it's getting extremely unoriginal as a middle and first name.-- -Julia- 9/24/2009
Grace is a really beautiful name.-- italiannames 10/18/2009
For the longest time before I learned what "grace" meant in religious terms, I thought that the song "Amazing Grace" was about somebody. I kept wondering "who is Grace and why is she so amazing?"-- gaelruadh19 11/15/2009
