I absolutely love the meaning of this name -- "he laughs." It makes me picture a sweet baby boy giggling with an adorable grin on his face. It's such a sweet image.

Singer Isaac Hayes is a famous bearer, known from singing the theme from "Shaft" and as the voice of Chef on South Park.

Isaac is a noble name with a nice meaning. It's not very common these days (at least where I come from). If I had a son I might call him Isaac.

Isaac is a great name, sounds strong. I also love the meaning of this name. We all need laughter in our lives. It is increasing quickly in popularity.

I'm not a very big fan of this name, but the lead singer in The Fray is named Isaac. I saw them in concert and got my picture with him. They are an amazing band.

Isaac was the name of the main adolescent baddie in the 80s horror flick Children of the Corn. He was the freaky little black haired kid with the scary weird voice. (His right hand boy was Malachi -- another *great* name with a terrible reputation due to this movie.)

It certinly isn't a diffficult association to overcome, but conjures bad Nebraskan corn-field memories for those of my generation. ((chuckles))

Otherwise a strong, solid choice. I love it, personally.

I love the name Isaac. I have a cousin named Willem Isaac and his name suits him perfectly. He's seven and in his entire life, I have never seen him unhappy. He's definitely the happiest person I know.

One of the main characters on the television show Heroes is Isaac.

From my studies, I've learnt that Isaac means "laughter". Either way, both are sufficient for this name. At the time, this is my all-time favorite name.

An appropriate name for Isaac Asimov, who wrote several books on humor, and who loved to laugh.

Clarke Isaac Hanson is one of the singers in the band Hanson.

This is an incredibly brilliant name. Its meaning is undisputably great, and it is terribly cute for a little boy, and very masculine for an adolescent and adult. It doesn't seem to lose its youthfulness with age, either. I also somewhat fancy the nickname "Zak", myself.
-- Pheadirean  6/27/2007
This is Jimmy Neutron's middle name on the Nickelodeon show.
-- Evil  7/26/2007
This has always been my fave name. It has the best meaning and a good sound. I always associate it with cute little boys and like handsome people. It's the best!

I absolutely love this name. I think it sounds nice and the meaning is great.

The most famous Isaac is the son of Abraham, who -- at God's command -- is willing to kill his son. An ugly story. One of my grandfathers was named Isaac. Even if you thought it was God's command, why be willing to kill an innocent child?
-- Arnwald  1/10/2008
Pronounced as "Ee-zak" (shortly).

Isaac was the first child of the once barren Hannah. After he was weaned she took him to the temple and gave him back to the LORD just as she had promised she would. Isaac became a person who was very well respected.
-- Patricia Underwood  2/18/2008
Actually, Isaac was the son of Sarah and Abraham, not Hannah. When the angels said she would have a son, she laughed, hence the name Isaac.
-- TigerLily0625  2/26/2008
Pronounced eye-zick.

Aizak - Russian phonetic spelling of "Isaac".

This is my favorite boys name. It sounds so smart.

Isaac Allerton was one of the most prominent people to arrive at Plymouth Colony on "The Mayflower" in 1621. He was a fool with money but a hard worker.
-- EmilyOlive  7/18/2008
This is a great name. If my wife and I ever have another son, his name will be Isaac. My son's name is Asher, which means "happy" and his little brother would be called Isaac, which means means "laughter".

What a great, handsome name for a boy, with a great meaning too. And hey, sharing a name with arguably the world's greatest mathematician doesn't hurt either.
-- emmiix3  4/4/2009
Cool name for a boy! It's so great! The Bible names are such good ones.
