I love this name because the sound is so pretty. In Asian countries, we make a flower of jasmine into tea, which has such a good flavour.

It's overused. (Hint - never say the name Jasmine in a store)
-- classy  1/11/2006
Not a personal pick, but definitely very pretty!
-- lindamaree  3/8/2006
It is also Arabic name and means the same thing.
-- amani83  3/22/2006
I love the name Jasmine, it makes me think of sweetness, because of the taste of jasmine tea, and also because I knew a girl called Jasmine and she was so tender-hearted and good-natured.
-- hana  4/20/2006
I love the name Jasmine. Not too overly popular and the nicknames for it are really cute.
-- Anonymous User  4/25/2006
My oldest daughter is named Jasmine. When we named her, we wouldn't even consider spelling it different. A friend was giving us different variations of spelling it, but we went with the classic spelling. We call her Jaz or Jazzy.
-- Guadalupe78  7/17/2006
I love this name, it's very sensous and reminds me of the flower jasmine, which is gorgeous and smells lovely. But I hate when people deaden it by shortening it to 'Min' or 'Minnie'. If this is your name, you are very lucky - appreciate it!
-- Anonymous User  8/9/2006
I really love the way this sounds. It's a shame so many people find it "trashy".
-- claraelizabethann  8/28/2006
I think it's over used, and really a bad TRASHY name.
-- Anonymous User  11/24/2006
Do not pay attention to the previous comment above this one. (I didn't write that! Someone else did) It is not really overused and it isn't trashy.
-- Taydbug112  12/7/2006
My cousin's name is Jazmine and I love her very much so I like this name although I would never use it.
-- Anonymous User  12/8/2006
It is a pretty name but much too overused and common now. Every other little girl is a Jasmine these days.
-- Anonymous User  12/20/2006
It is actually a form of the Persian/Middle Eastern name Yasmin (like it says), I love this name it's very pretty. I know this girl named Jasmine she spells it Jasmin though.
-- Anonymous User  1/26/2007
In Hebrew it is pronounced Yas-min.
-- Ruti  1/27/2007
I'm fond of Jasmine, nickname Minnie. :)
-- Wordsmith  2/21/2007
It's beautiful, but too many snobby girls ruined the name for me.
-- 7up  3/21/2007
Jasmine is a beautiful name. It is not Trashy at all. Why would it be? I know of some really trashy names and trust me, Jasmine is not on the list. Anyways, Jasmine is a beautiful name. It is a plant with fragrant flowers. Lovely smell and lovely tea :) Also, makes me think of a princess.
-- Anonymous User  3/26/2007
The Jasmine plant has been used since Ancient times. It has been used for perfume, oils and tea among other wonderful things. Jasmine is a beautiful name because it represents beauty and sweetness. Jasmine has been used through the ages. I would definitely want my daughter to be named after something of beauty such as Jasmine.
-- Anonymous User  3/26/2007
Though apparently this name is extremely popular, I've never met someone named Jasmine before. I think it's a beautiful name, and I like it's definition.
-- Anonymous User  3/26/2007
Jazz is a nice nickname for a nice name.
-- Luangi  4/8/2007
I really like the name Jasmine, it's so pretty!
-- RachelLouise  6/19/2007
Oh my god. This name is amazing. It is strong and beautiful, mysterious and magnificent. I love it. If you want to name any of your kids Jasmine good for you. It's a fantasic name. I mean it's daring and strong - yet beutiful and femmine at the same time. Perfect for any strong-willed, lovely girl. I LOVE THIS NAME.
-- bookdiva  6/21/2007
I think any name can be trashy if the person who owns it makes it trashy. Jasmine is a lovely name which grows well into adulthood. I know a little girl named Jasmine Beatrice and everyone calls her Jazzy B.
-- Anonymous User  6/27/2007
Version Jasmina is Czech and Serbian.
Name Day: 24th February.
-- Karcoolka  7/3/2007
This seems to be the name of every whorish girl at school. It's a shame, really, because this isn't such a bad name.
-- arrowhead909  7/14/2007
I would bet money that 97% of children who have this name have parents who live in trailer parks and who came up with it after watching the Disney movie. Dumb name.
-- johann14  9/25/2007
Slovene form is Jasmina. Lovely name!
-- only.me  12/14/2007
I think a set of twins named Jasmine (f) and Jackson (m) would be fun: Jazz and Jax!
-- leananshae  12/25/2007
Very pretty name.
-- blkbuttafly  1/3/2008
These people don't know what they're talking about. My name is Jasmine and I am not snobbish, neither am I trashy, nor do I live in a trailer park. Your name does not define who you are.
-- jasmineenimsaj  2/5/2008
I love this name, it sounds feminine but not girly and it reminds me of flowers and nature, which is a good association to me. The first time I heard this name was not when I saw Aladdin because in Dutch the name is pronounced quite different and not as pretty. A good friend of mine had a younger sister named Jasmine and they pronounced it the English way and I liked it. If a girl is still young she might really love the assoctiation with the Disney princess and when she's older, she probably doesn't care. Anyway, I'm thinking about using this as a middle name for a future daughter. I've considered spelling it Yasmin as well but I think I prefer the spelling Jasmine over it.
-- renee06  2/28/2008
Cute sweet, isn't it?
-- reina  5/9/2008
Jasmine Fenton is the older sister of Danny Fenton, the main character of the Nicktoon Danny Phantom. She goes almost exclusively by Jazz, but there are a few instances where her full name is mentioned.
-- meganmichele  6/24/2008
This name makes me feel all happy inside! (No, I'm not going crazy) But, really, It's not trashy at all. Please ignore the really rude comments, I mean, at least they could've said "No offense!" all those anonymous users that make BTN a bit miserable. ~sigh~ Anyway, back to the beautiful name! I certainly love it.
-- missBridget  7/13/2008
I don't like the name Jasmine - never have. I don't really think it's trashy; it just reminds me too much of the Princess from Aladdin.
-- Anonymous User  8/25/2008
I think this is a beautiful name. I love the fragrance of a Jasmine flower.
-- KayeKiLa  9/14/2008
The Turkish version is Yasemin pronounced like it looks; yass-eh-meen. I think it is one of the prettier versions of Jasmine.
-- Arieanne  1/30/2009
Jasmine is unique, bespeaks liberty, is universal and beautiful. It means "gift from God." The flower Jasmine is pleasant to all senses and serves medicinal purposes. I love it!
-- bobbilee  3/1/2009
I think it's really stupid when people hate a name just because they've had bad experiences with others who have it. The name itself isn't trashy sounding at all.
-- Alaric  4/3/2009
To the person above me about having bad experiences with people with a certain name. Unfortunately, it *can* kill the good vibe for you. The names Melissa, Nicole, and (yes) Jasmine have been ruined in such a way, because the girls were just plain b*tches. They might be pretty names, but I could never use them for any children I have in the future, because of the people I've already met with those names.

Jasmine Elaine Parks is the main character of Jennifer Rardin's urban fantasy vampire novels: Once Bitten, Twice Shy; Another One Bites the Dust; Biting The Bullet; Bitten to Death and One More Bite.

Very exciting and amusing novels for vampire-lovers!
-- Reby  6/2/2009
Jasmine is a beautiful name - my mother almost called me this, but the 'Flower' nickname bothered her. I've known two people with this name; they were both confident and cheerful people, so there is always an association of liveliness in this name for me.
-- chameleon  7/24/2009
I like this name because it's pretty and it always makes me think of pink sequins.
