Comments for MAGNOLIA:

The Magnolia is the state flower of Louisiana. It's one of my favorite flowers; they smell so good! I actually like this as a name. Maggie and Noli would make cute nicknames for it in my opinion.

I like magnolias as trees/flowers, and as a name it's interesting. It sounds too stately and dignified to me though.

The name of a movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

This is a pretty name because of the flower, but Maggie wouldn't be a good nickname because people would assume it was Margaret.

"Love of nature" is the symbolic meaning of the Magnolia flower. Also, Magnolia trees were valued for their longevity, and the dried bark was used in folk medicine.

According to http://forvo.com/word/Magnolia, the name is pronounced "mahkh-NO-lee-ah" in Dutch and "mang-YO-lee-ah" in Italian.

I think this name needs a nickname, and there are many possibilities: Maggie, Nola, Noa, Nia, Mia, Mimi, Lia, Manola, Nol (say "knoll"), Lola, Mo, Malia, etc.

I'm starting to like the sound of Indigo Magnolia.
