Comments for NIVIARSIAQ:
Niviarsiaq pronounced ni-vee-AR-see-aq. The q at the end represents a sound not found in English or other European languages. It's sort of like a k, but very far back in the throat using almost a glottal stop. Also, the r is not rolled, flipped, or like an English r. It is in the back of the throat, perhaps most similar to an Israeli Hebrew r.-- cait 7/27/2007
This is technically not a Native American name. It's a Greenlandic name, but I've never heard it used by Alaskan or Canadian Inuit people. Also, the meaning is incorrect -- it should just be "girl". Young woman would be arnaraq. [noted -ed]-- cait 7/27/2007
