This is also the name of the bad guy in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Count Olaf.-- Tbird 6/29/2005
In Nancy Farmer's book "The Sea of Trolls", Olaf was the head of King Ivar the Boneless's berserkers, the wolf-headed men.-- Arowen Half-Elven 12/24/2005
This name reminds me of pure evil because of Count Olaf in the Series of Unfortunate Events. I never liked it anyways, so I don't mind.-- Dessa 4/9/2007
The first time I heard this name was in A Series of Unfortunate Events and I thought Snicket made it up, it was so goofy sounding.-- Anonymous User 4/13/2007
This name also exists in the same form in Polish. [noted -ed]-- daffodils_sing 6/27/2007
I am very proud to have the name Olaf.-- wom 11/9/2007
My assosiation of this name with Count Olaf makes it funny to me for some reason. I don't know why, as Count Olaf isn't a funny character. But it makes me laugh. There's just something inherently goofy about this name (no offense to anyone named Olaf).-- Pippin 3/16/2008
Two words: Count Olaf. This association with the name makes it rather unappealing to me.-- Anonymous User 2/1/2009
Count Olaf is a fun but sadistic character, and the name sounds more like a surname, so I wouldn't use this name.-- Kerules 4/5/2009
