Comments for PRISCILLA:
I like it! Definitely very feminine, which is so much better than all these boys names for girls in the paper lately.-- Mommy2B 4/6/2005
A fact of some interest: J.R.R. Tolkien's only daughter and fourth child was named Priscilla.-- Elfstone 4/9/2005
Famous bearer is Priscilla Presley, Elvis Presley's ex-wife (and now widow).-- goneaway 5/16/2005
It is the best name out there!-- Anonymous User 5/25/2005
This is a fine name. Just don't let anyone call you or your daughter 'Prissy.'-- Anonymous User 8/2/2005
I personally don't like this name. It sounds somewhat "tartish" to me, for lack of a better word. And it also makes me think of Elvis and Priscilla Presley (I'm not a fan of them).-- Anonymous User 12/3/2005
I love the name Priscilla. When you even say the name Priscilla it sounds soft and beautiful.-- Anonymous User 1/11/2006
I personally hate this name, I mean, who names their kid Priscilla!?-- jschermer09 4/13/2006
It's my name (even though I'm registered as semmy) and I don't like the name at all. People say I don't look like a Priscilla and well, it's too long and way too much people have 'my' name!-- semmy 4/24/2006
I recently asked my 86 year-old grandmother, "What is the most beautiful, classiest name of all time?" Without hesitation she replied, "Priscilla". Suddenly I have a new appreciation for the name. Uncommon and totally classic.-- Fionafabulous 5/17/2006
This is a classy, soft, and feminine name. I think people are afraid to use it sometimes because of the nickname 'Prissy', but really it's not so bad as nicknames go, save for the connotation of the word.-- black_lace 5/19/2006
Sounds like the name of a stripper, to me.-- Anonymous User 5/30/2006
The name Priscilla makes me think of someone who's, well, prissy. Not a personal favorite.-- Anonymous User 7/11/2006
Ew. I hate this name, in no way is it 'soft and beautiful' as you said. Little Pricilla will forever be called 'Godzilla', or something of the like. The nickname Prissy is also bad, but much better that Godzilla.-- Anonymous User 8/4/2006
I love the name (wonder why). I think it's so funny though when I say my name over the phone, everyone mistakes it for "Crystal" so it's obviously not common. It can be taken lightly, as an elegant name. Or it could be taken as a sexual name. Especially if you've seen "Priscilla's" lingerie. Prissy, the nickname, doesn't bother me. Neither does Priss, Cilla, Scilla, and dunno how I got this one but "Skill it".-- priss_cilla 8/15/2006
Priscilla "Cilla" Lapham is a character in the book "Johnny Tremaine" by Esther Forbes.-- DLB 8/23/2006
My gandmother was named Priscilla Ann (that's what she went by all of her life) and I have always thought that it sounded fiesty yet feminine and cute. Not very popular anymore, which is a shame.-- ella_16 11/4/2006
60's popstar Cilla Black was born Priscilla White.-- Anonymous User 2/14/2007
Literary/Historical: In "The Courtship of Miles Standish" Capt. Standish intends to marry a beautiful local lady named Priscilla (can't remember her last name).-- Annabeau 2/15/2007
I've always liked this name, even if it seems "prissy."-- Anonymous User 4/1/2007
My name is Priscilla but I personally don't like it. Everybody calls me Pris or Priscil, even if they've only known me for a day or something. They also call me Prissy, let's just take it as a pro that I don't live in an English speaking country (the Netherlands).-- Mango 5/30/2007
The name is okay, but the meaning ('ancient') kind of ruined Priscilla for me.-- Anonymous User 6/6/2007
If you don't like "Prissy" (which I don't) how about Cilla?-- spaz123 7/10/2007
This name makes me think of a pretty, feminine, elegant and sophisticated woman and a pretty, feminine and sweet girl. I like the fact that it is an "old" name that has fallen into almost rare use. My name was an old name that had fallen into rare use until just before I was born too (Samantha). Also, I strongly feel that if you don't want a nickname or shortened name SIMPLY DON'T ALLOW IT! For my daughter I would allow only Priscilla, if I choose this name.-- guidoguidette 9/17/2007
I adore this name because it sounds so elegant. Don't nickname your child Prissy, because Priscilla in my opinion is WAY better!-- aquaspirit96 12/2/2007
I really don't like the name. I think the nickname Cilla is cute, but I have a feeling that the girl would be teased (at least in grade school) because it is so close to silly.-- pandasayscynical 12/11/2007
My name is Priscilla and I like it. My mother named me after the actress, Priscilla Lane, back in the 40's. It is a long name for a child and the meaning is not so desirable and I don't feel I have the personality of someone who is ancient, for sure. I do like the fact that it is a biblical name though. I am surprised of its popularity and the fact that people seem to think it common because I seldom run into anyone with this name.-- mawmaw90910007 1/4/2008
I love this name, its way better than EXTREMELY common names such as Emily, Isabella, Madison, Ava, etc. I hope by the time I have kids this name won't be too popular.-- jasmineenimsaj 2/1/2008
The story I heard for the origin of this name (which I suspect is not true) is that it was used by couples who had lost infant children. The idea was that by naming the child "Priscilla" (one possible translation of which might be "somewhat old") they might fool the powers that be (whatever they might be) into thinking that the child had already passed infancy and so spare its life.-- Kosta 4/21/2008
I hate this name. It sounds overly cutesy and frilly to me. It's dated anyway, and it sounds quite ditzy, too.-- slight night shiver 5/2/2008
Ugliest name I've EVER heard. I don't understand how anyone could think this is a good name. It makes me think of the evil step sisters in Cinderella. :p
PLEASE do not name your child this!-- Anonymous User 6/18/2008
It's okay, I personally wouldn't name my child this. When I say this name I instantly think of a bratty little girl.-- lkelly67 7/31/2008
This has got to be THE UGLIEST name on the planet. It sounds like a "prissy" bratty snotty girl.-- Anonymous User 8/21/2008
I totally love this name. It's a classic name, yet not overused. The only famous Priscilla I can think of is Priscilla Presley and she was absolutely gorgeous. Therefore, my impression of this name is totally positive. It's a romantic, feminine name for a beautiful woman.-- Bajafresh 8/22/2008
I love this name, but unfortunately makes me think of Priscilla Presley.-- bananarama 9/30/2008
It's a nice name, but I actually prefer the Polish spelling: Priscylla.-- erb816 12/14/2008
Marlon Brando has a daughter named Ninna Priscilla.-- Anonymous User 3/1/2009
I think it's a really classic name. :)-- walesgal92 3/8/2009
Gaudy name.-- Kerules 5/17/2009
I'm adopted so my name was changed at the age of ten to Jennifer but my birth name is Priscilla. I hated it, I was told I was named after Priscilla Presley since I had been born a year and a couple months after Elvis died. It's a pretty name just not me.-- cheyennesn 6/23/2009
Sounds too old-fashioned to me. I like Prisca better, actually.-- -Julia- 8/20/2009
