I personally don't like this name. It sounds somewhat "tartish" to me, for lack of a better word. And it also makes me think of Elvis and Priscilla Presley (I'm not a fan of them).

I recently asked my 86 year-old grandmother, "What is the most beautiful, classiest name of all time?" Without hesitation she replied, "Priscilla". Suddenly I have a new appreciation for the name. Uncommon and totally classic.

This is a classy, soft, and feminine name. I think people are afraid to use it sometimes because of the nickname 'Prissy', but really it's not so bad as nicknames go, save for the connotation of the word.

Ew. I hate this name, in no way is it 'soft and beautiful' as you said. Little Pricilla will forever be called 'Godzilla', or something of the like. The nickname Prissy is also bad, but much better that Godzilla.

I love the name (wonder why). I think it's so funny though when I say my name over the phone, everyone mistakes it for "Crystal" so it's obviously not common. It can be taken lightly, as an elegant name. Or it could be taken as a sexual name. Especially if you've seen "Priscilla's" lingerie. Prissy, the nickname, doesn't bother me. Neither does Priss, Cilla, Scilla, and dunno how I got this one but "Skill it".

This name makes me think of a pretty, feminine, elegant and sophisticated woman and a pretty, feminine and sweet girl. I like the fact that it is an "old" name that has fallen into almost rare use. My name was an old name that had fallen into rare use until just before I was born too (Samantha). Also, I strongly feel that if you don't want a nickname or shortened name SIMPLY DON'T ALLOW IT! For my daughter I would allow only Priscilla, if I choose this name.

I really don't like the name. I think the nickname Cilla is cute, but I have a feeling that the girl would be teased (at least in grade school) because it is so close to silly.

My name is Priscilla and I like it. My mother named me after the actress, Priscilla Lane, back in the 40's. It is a long name for a child and the meaning is not so desirable and I don't feel I have the personality of someone who is ancient, for sure. I do like the fact that it is a biblical name though. I am surprised of its popularity and the fact that people seem to think it common because I seldom run into anyone with this name.

I love this name, its way better than EXTREMELY common names such as Emily, Isabella, Madison, Ava, etc. I hope by the time I have kids this name won't be too popular.

The story I heard for the origin of this name (which I suspect is not true) is that it was used by couples who had lost infant children. The idea was that by naming the child "Priscilla" (one possible translation of which might be "somewhat old") they might fool the powers that be (whatever they might be) into thinking that the child had already passed infancy and so spare its life.

I totally love this name. It's a classic name, yet not overused. The only famous Priscilla I can think of is Priscilla Presley and she was absolutely gorgeous. Therefore, my impression of this name is totally positive. It's a romantic, feminine name for a beautiful woman.

I'm adopted so my name was changed at the age of ten to Jennifer but my birth name is Priscilla. I hated it, I was told I was named after Priscilla Presley since I had been born a year and a couple months after Elvis died. It's a pretty name just not me.
