Comments for THEODORA:

I believe this is the name of the main character in Kit Pearson's award-winning book Awake and Dreaming, although she goes by Theo.

I think that in the next twenty years or so, names such as this one, Eleanor, and other old fashioned names will make a major comeback as backlash to the just plain silly girls names bestowed on babies today.

This name is so totally awesome. I actually know TWO Theodoras, which is kinda like lightning striking the same place twice. One everyone calls Thea, and the others name is Theodora Mae, so everybody calls her Dora Mae.

I love this name. It's rare, pretty, and refined. My favourite nickname for it is Theda.

My name is Theodora. I have been called Teddie or Theo all my life. Although many people think this is a pretty name, I have found it to be useless. Do not give your child a name that is so different or with a fancy different spelling. It is annoying and cumbersome. I am constantly being referred to as Mr. when I am a Ms. I was even assigned a "big brother" instead of a "big sister" when I was a college freshman. I guess that wasn't all bad but it did not last long when they got a look at me. Give your child a practical name, easy to pronounce and spell.

I love this name to death, especially due to the Empress Theodora.

I like this name. It just sounds so elegant and sophisticated, quite unlike many of the girls' names used today.

I absolutely love this name, and love the history behind it-- Empress Theodora was great. At the very least, this will wind up being one of my future child's middle name.
